Spoel de rijst af onder koud water tot het spoelwater helder is, om overtollig zetmeel te verwijderen.
Gebruik ongeveer een verhouding van 1 deel rijst : 2 delen water.
Breng water aan de kook, voeg de rijst toe, dek af en zet het vuur laag. Laat de rijst sudderen totdat het water is opgenomen, meestal zo’n 15–20 minuten.
Laat de rijst na het koken even rusten met het deksel op de pan zodat de korrel verder kan stomen en zich losser gaat zetten
